Upcyx exists to eliminate waste at its source.
Our approach is simple: design waste out of the life cycle of every product and every package. We're starting with paper and packaging because the world uses so much of it, and because meaningful change starts where impact is highest.
Founded by engineers Christoph Bruehl and Wayne Jackson, Upcyx is a registered Alberta corporation based in Calgary, Western Canada.

Our Philosophy
Sustainability isn't a feature. It's the standard. Every material we develop and every product we make is held to all four at once.
Choosing better shouldn't be a luxury. We design for the price point real buyers actually work with, because a sustainable product nobody can afford doesn't displace anything.
We know where our inputs come from. Traceable waste streams, locally sourced fibre, and partners we would happily stand behind in public.
Compostable at the end of its life, but built to have a long one first. Something that lasts is already doing sustainability's hardest work.
Hemp flecks in off-white paper, the warm tone of a natural-fibre composite: our materials show what they're made of rather than imitating what they replaced.

Upcyx was started by two engineers who kept looking at the same problem from different ends: the waste going in, and the product coming out.

Wayne leads the materials side: the conversion technologies and blends that turn agricultural and industrial residues into biocomposites strong enough to compete on performance, not just on principle.
He spends his time where the raw material is, with the growers and processors whose waste streams become our feedstock.
