Hemp is one of the oldest paper fibres in the world. Measured against tree paper, it simply performs. These are the figures behind Hemp Heritage™ paper.
- Four times more paper per acre. The same amount of land produces four times more hemp paper than tree paper.
- Four months to harvest. Softwood trees take 8 to 12 years. Hardwood takes 20 to 80.
- Recyclable seven times. Tree paper manages three.
- 85% cellulose. Tree paper contains about 30%, and more cellulose means stronger paper.
Tree paper also has shorter fibres and an acidic character, which makes it more susceptible to sunlight, heat, and dampness. Hemp simply lasts longer.
